More than 9,000 candidates have registered for the local elections in the Sudurpaschim states.
According to the data released by the Election Commission at 11 pm on Monday, 9,020 people have registered their candidacies in the offices of nine Chief Electoral Officers and 79 Election Officers.
According to the commission, 9,020 people have registered their candidacies for the posts of chief, deputy chief and chairman, vice-chairman, ward chairperson and ward member of the village.
There are 189 candidates for mayor of municipalities and sub-metropolitan cities, 147 for deputy mayor, 224 for village chairman and 173 for vice chairman.
Similarly, 2,198 candidates have been fielded for the post of ward chairperson, 1,517 for women members, 1,387 for Dalit women members and 3,185 for members.
