Dhangadhi : Of late, most people have access to digital, but most have not paid attention to how safe they are from it.

In this context, Digital Rights Nepal has started discussions in Dhangadhi on digital rights agenda and priorities.

Santosh Sigdel, President of Digital Rights Nepal, said that through Facebook tutors, emails, mobile phones and various apps, others are easily getting to know about the happenings in our daily lives through technology. Due to which the reach of digital has increased, but the risk also increases.

He suggested protecting the passwords of mobiles, laptops and various social networks he is using about how to protect their privacy.

At a time when the use of the Internet is becoming inevitable, there is a need to spread awareness among the general public about the risks and safety caused by it.

Most educated people also lack digital literacy.

Speakers of the program organized in Dhangadhi stressed the need to increase digital literacy at a time when the internet and related activities are widespread.

With the increased use of the Internet, the risk of users' personal data being leaked and stolen and misused has increased, the participants said.

Speaking on the occasion, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Far-Western Secretary Hari Joshi stressed the need to streamline the policy making process.

Senior journalist and right to information activist Umid Bagchand suggested that the governments of all three tiers should take initiatives from their respective areas to make all sections and levels aware about digital rights.

Federation of Nepali Journalists Kailali President Himal Joshi said that people are facing problems due to non-implementation of the existing policies and regulations.

BAN's state president Amita Kunwar, journalists, representatives of the Federation of Non-Governmental Organisations and people associated with different sectors were present on the occasion. The organizing organization has said that such programs are being organized in all seven provinces.
